Conservation / Citizen Advisory / Environmental Report: Jim Cyr

The state is trying to initiate an online program for the purchase of fishing licenses. If purchased on line 100% of the fee will go to DEP. If purchased at store only a percentage will go to DEP the rest to the retailer. Anyone having purchased a license from another state online is requested to provide feed back to Jim on you experience, good or bad.

There will be a closed season for Trout from 1 July – 15 September at Highland Lake, Crystal Lake and East Twin Lake. During this closed season, if you should catch a trout, you must release it regardless of the health of the fish.

BASS gave each state a Dissolved Oxygen Meter at the Classic.

Youth Committee: Terry Baksay

Had a meeting with the members from the three junior clubs. The meeting was held at the conclusion of the Heart of CT Tournament on Lillinonah. Some of the kids were asked to help at the tournament by cooking hotdogs and hamburgers and raising funds for the CT Youth.

Would like to say “Thank You” on behalf of the youth for the donation from the Heart of CT Club.

There are currently three clubs with approximately 24 members, including 4 or 5 new members. We are having four qualifying tournaments for the 2007 Junior World Championship. Best three of four events counts towards end of year point standings. The first event will be held the end of June, beginning of July on Candlewood Lake.

As far as G-3 and Yamaha giving us a boat and motor for this year, that is still in negotiation.

There will be a $15.00 per event, per youth, entry fee implemented for this year. Ten dollars of which will go to the boat captain for gas. Five dollars will go into the youth fund. Many other states have always done this at a higher rate which has worked out well.

Tournament Committee: Frank Dowds

First Tournament - May 21, all applications must be post marked by May 5 no exceptions. NO CASH!! Please make checks payable to CBFN.

Launch - is out of Danbury Park. All Boats must launch from Danbury Park. Boats coming from any other launch, even if you live on the lake will be DISQUALIFIED.

Start time is 7:00am

Pairings will be done on May 15 and posted on May 16 (hopefully)

Agendas will be handed out at sign in.

If we are charged a launch fee at Danbury Town Park, it is up to the Angler and Co-Angler to work it out. It is recommend that the Co-Angler should pay the $10 fee as he doesn’t have to pay for gas.

Understand that most clubs have not received federation cards as of yet. Just get Frank a copy when they come in. (Can be brought to the tournament), But please include copies of other required items as listed on application.

Checking Account is all set up and will be cashing checks on Friday (April 28th)

Anyone giving Frank paperwork at the last meeting (other than Russ Hall and Sylvia Morris) please contact him.

We had an Executive Board meeting in early April. It was decided to change the wording on the tournament application from “Pro” and “Amateur” to “Angler” and Co-Angler as some may find the term amateur degrading when they are as good or not better fisherman than the angler.

Silver City Bassmasters found someone to tow the trailer for $50.00 so we don’t have to make changes to tournament rules regarding this. Thanks to Ron Fisk.
